Welcome to Blooming! A healthy home by Design. Today, we’ve got a great episode for you! We’re going to let you in a little secret - it’s the quickest and easiest way to feel happier in your home. So many of us have chronic stress. We run from here to there, we are constantly busy and have so many responsibilities and things to take care of it’s no wonder we feel ragged by the end of the day. COVID has given us all a chance to slow down and stay put, but for many of us this means having to juggle working from home where the kids are in your space! Maybe it’s hard to find a moment to yourself. You might even be thinking it’s time to move or I hate my home! Well in this episode, you’ll learn how to transform your space into something you’ll love. No matter the size of your home or where you live, anyone can do this! And we’ve got Ror Alexander here with us again to share with us his secret to feeling happier in your home. So let’s grow!
Hey welcome back to Blooming! A healthy home by design. I’ve got a great episode for you today but before we dive in I just want to share with you some info on this season.
There are many areas of our lives that directly relate to our health. What I mean by this is, lets say you eat really clean and you excercise every single day…. but you are in a toxic relationship or your work environment is causing you daily stress or your finances are out of order. If that’s the case, no amount of salad or exercise is going to make you feel well! I created a pdf of what I call the Energy Wheel that you can download for free on my website at luxlivingsocal.com/gifts and it shows you 15 different areas of your life that contribute to overall wellbeing. I named it the energy wheel because wherever you focus your energy, you’ll see it expand. So it’s kind of awesome that all you need to do is start to become aware of where you are now on the wheel and then think about where you want to be and start focusing on that area that you want to improve in your life. These 15 areas I put into 3 different categories. When you see the graphic it will make a lot more sense, but The 3 categories are Personal Growth, Relationships and Health.
In season 2 we covered Personal Growth areas and then season 3 was Relationship areas. So this season is dedicated to Health-we’ll be talking about Physical Health, Physical Activity, Mental Health and Happiness. The reason I want to bring this up is because most of us don’t relate health with home, and I think that there are many ways our home environment can either support our health or actually cause more stress in our lives. So I’m here to help bring awareness so that you can take control of your environment and start using it to your advantage. So let’s get to our interview on the quickest and easiest way to feel happier in your home!

Just to recap the quickest and easiest way to feel happier in your home is to intentionally create a zen zone. It doesn’t have to be large, but it does need to be a space that you carve out where you can feel good. It can be as simple as a space for a cushion in front of a window where you practice breathing, or maybe it’s a corner where you listen or practice your music. or maybe it’s even an art studio in your garage. Whatever it is that makes you feel happy and relaxed AND creative is the key. And you don’t have to be an artist to be creative. Everyone is creative. What we create is unique but everyone has the capability of creating something.
Take time to get quiet and to breathe and to listen to yourself. If you aren’t sure of what it is that makes you happy or brings you joy then ask yourself - what brings me joy? And then listen. If buying stuff or other people come up as the answers for you then ask yourself why? keep asking until you get to what YOU do that makes you feel good. and what YOU do that brings you joy. That way you can control it - because it’s something YOU can do. Then think about how you can do this in your home.
Can you take 10 minutes a day to breathe, quiet your mind and work on this thing that brings you happiness? Create a little space in your home somewhere and try dedicating even 10 minutes to letting your mind quiet down and get your creative juices flowing again. You can even use this time to sit and stretch your body. Do this 10 minutes a day for 2 weeks and see how much happier you feel. I bet you will be more patient, your productivity will increase, you’ll have clarity and answers to tough decisions, you’ll have more movement in your body AND you’ll feel happier.
